Look who’s talking

No. Zoe can’t talk. Yet.

She’s only 7 weeks and a bit. What she is doing is “vocalising”. She hears our voices, and is trying to imitate us.

So she will pay attention to us when we talk to her, and if we slow down when we pronounce certain words, she will make an effort to try to say the same words.

So “Hello” may get a abruptly truncated, “Hel-p!”

Or she may say “Hi!”

It is probably just a coincidence that I appear, and she says “Hi”.

Maybe, she is saying “Hi! Where have you been?”

Or maybe she was trying to say, “Hai-yah! It’s the Non-Milk Parent again!”
